A Wee Trip to the Isle of Mull

The Sound of Mull

We recently came back from a week away on the Isle of Mull.

It was absolute bliss.  The cottage had no wifi, which before we left concerned me but in truth, it was lovely.  Just an opportunity to be together without any distractions.

It was a holiday of picnics on the beach, sometimes sat in tents as we’d drink tea from our flask and watch the rain clouds roll overhead before the sun came back out again and it was full steam ahead into the sea!  Trips round castles and delicious fish and chips and ice creams.

The garden of our holiday cottage led onto a private beach where we had BBQs in the early evening.  Trotting down with G&Ts for the grown ups and sausages and beans for the littles.  Even though we’ve been home for weeks they still talk in excited tones about cooking bananas in chocolate and s’mores on the beach.

It was an utterly delicious holiday.  I love going away with our littles because it always reminds me of the real, simple joys of life.  The sheer pleasure of being together, playing games, building sandcastles and picking what cakes to take to the beach (most important).  I do hope you’ve managed to take some time with your loved ones this summer.
