Collection: Claire Folkes Ceramics

Claire Folkes is a small batch potter based near Saffron Walden in Essex. Everything she makes is hand thrown on her wheel using stoneware and porcelain.  I first found her through the wonderful world that is instagram and was immediately struck by the shapes she makes for her pottery as well as the beautiful glazes she uses.  Her pieces are always real and useful but so beautiful.  Claire loves the transformation from raw clay to a highly glazed finished surface and her work always contains unglazed surfaces to highlight this contrast.  I always love pottery that is so tactile you can’t help but pick it up and hold it and I find Claire’s work impossible to resist.  As she says her pieces are made to be used, handled and loved.
