Autumn Delight

Holkham Hall in Norfolk under a bright autumnal blue sky

Autumn is my favourite season.  I got married in autumn - a beautiful late September day with bright blue skies that you often struggle to get in summer. There is something about the promise of autumn - the crisp leaves in all their colours, the long walks in bright sunshine but with a nip in the air stamping around in heaps of leaves and finding conkers followed by a warming hot chocolate, the first log fires and a return to Sunday roast dinners, slow cooked casseroles and fruit crumbles!  CRUMBLES!  For that alone I could just love autumn.  All that glossy, jewel coloured fruit bubbling away on the Aga topped with a crunchy floury, sugary and oaty coating.  What is not to love?

It is also when our cottage comes into its own.  I love drawing the curtains, lighting the candles, building up the fire and cosying up inside under soft throws.  Which is your favourite season?
