Handmade Valentine's Gifts

”If you love someone, you say it, you say it right then, out loud.
Otherwise, the moment just… passes you by.”
My Best Friend's Wedding

I don't think it will come as a surprise to many that I am not a huge fan of Valentines day such as it is celebrated today.  It's always felt a bit too commercial for me and I'm a big believer that if you love and care about someone you don't need any external forces telling you how and when to show that.  I grew up in a very loving and openly affectionate family (my school friends nicknamed us The Larkins!) so if I feel it, I say it.

In its original concept Valentines was all about friends as well as lovers taking the time to exchange small tokens or notes of affection.  And I utterly love this idea.  There is simply nothing like a little unexpected gift or note - a thoughtful "I saw this and thought of you" is always the loveliest present to receive!  It can lift the darkest of days and I think it's fair to say we've all had some of those in the last couple of years.

Of course I appreciate lots of people are looking for Valentines gift ideas or Galentines gift ideas or perhaps you're simply looking for a gorgeous little pick me up for yourself, so I've put together the Rhubarb & Hare Valentine Edit which has gifts ideas for everyone from a beautiful hand crafted heart shaped wooden spoon to luxury candles to a handmade porcelain heart shaped jug that I actually use as a posy holder in our home so its on display all the time I love it so much
