The Chelsea Flower Show Collection
-
I love Chelsea Flower Show.
I love everything about it. It feels like such a quintessentially English Day. I love the marquees, the gardens, the displays, everyone dressed in their floral best, Alan Titchmarsh, Monty Don, the deckchairs, the brass bands, the ridiculously expensive Pimms and of course, last but definitely not least, the odd sighting of the Chelsea Pensioners.
When I lived in SW London it was always a moment in the calendar when you’d see the marquees going up in the Chelsea Hospital Grounds and all the shops around Sloane Square would start decorating their windows and storefronts with heavenly floral displays. Despite always wanting to go and it taking place around the corner from us for our London years, it was only last year that I was able to attend for the very first time and it absolutely lived up to expectations.
In a world which is becoming increasingly hard to understand, gardening and flowers has become one of my favourite retreats and it was an absolute joy to spend a day feeling inspired with ideas and day dreams (yes one day I will have that greenhouse that costs more than the average UK home and flower beds full of Claverton Cloches - the absolute dream). Inspiration was literally everywhere - I took SO many photos and as we begin our garden landscaping this Summer it’s so helpful to look at these again and think about what plants I love and want to have in our garden and surrounding our patio area. One of my favourites was a small planting bed that had been created to prettify a greenhouse display and I desperately hope to re-create this in our garden.
Although I’m not attending this year, last night, I was sat in my pyjamas watching the show on the TV, curled up with Le Pup, a hot mug of tea and a notepad - The Lady Garden Foundation Garden looked amazing and filled with my favourite sort of planting. Did you know that you can find out planting information from the RHS website and also the website of the garden creator. I did this last night as there were some plants I didn’t recognise which I thought looked amazing. So if you fall in love with a garden and want to find out more, have a look online. There was also an amazing Dutch Allium grower with some new smaller varieties I’d never seen before, Allium New York and Allium Chicago. These have been dutifully added to my favourites list on my Farmer Gracy account so I can order some when they’re back in season. Think they’ll look beautiful dotted along our patio wall.
If you're thinking about bringing a touch of Chelsea magic into your home this week I’ve created a Chelsea Flower Show Edit with all my favourite beautiful vases and flower pots in one place. Click HERE and you'll go straight to it.
