The Valentines Edit

At Rhubarb & Hare we aren’t big believers of Valentine’s in its more recent, traditional sense. 

I have always felt that it’s far lovelier to show appreciation for your loved ones throughout the year, and mostly when they least expect it.  The joy of a surprise gift is always a million times better. 

However, in its oldest, purest sense, back in the middle of the 18th century, it was common in Britain, on Valentine's, for friends and lovers to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes.  And it is this I love and respond to. 

I'll always take any excuse to send a friend a funny card, or one with a message which is just for them.  Or that little gift you know will make their day.  And even more so this year, when we are all dealing with such a weight of worry and concerns and struggles. 

Never underestimate the power of a simple card to say hello; or that little gift which says ‘I saw this and thought of you’  To know you are in someone’s thoughts is a powerful and beautiful thing.  It can give strength where there is none, or warmth in lieu of that hug & contact we all so desperately need at this time and to remind someone they are loved.

Our Valentine’s Edit reflects this.  Yes we have included the luxury candle for a more traditional Valentine’s gift but also some smaller items just in case you are looking for that little something that just says 'hello', 'thinking of you', 'sending you love' for any loved one or even just yourself.
