Where It All Began . . .

Hello Hello!

Thank you for visiting my blog and the Rhubarb & Hare website.  Being a working mum to two small children I know exactly what it is like to spin a million plates so I really appreciate you taking the time to visit.

I thought it might be nice to give you a bit more detail about where the idea of Rhubarb & Hare all began.  It’s been so many years in the dreaming and months in the planning, but like most ideas, it started with a seed . . . .

I’ve always loved interior design and homewares. I adore browsing, whether in magazines or online, to find the exact perfect thing that will complete a room – it’s my switch off from everything, at work or at home. Planning gorgeous rooms is my escape. My mother was an amazing interior designer and our childhood home was beautiful. She instilled into me the importance of not just designing a room but creating an atmosphere in your home to make guests feel welcome, at home, or at ease, restful. And I love to do this.

When we moved out from London to rent a thatched cottage in one of Essex’s most beautiful Georgian towns, my homemaking nesting went into overdrive. Friends and visitors began asking where I’d found this vase or that cushion.   A few years later we moved into our present home, a beautiful three hundred-year-old cottage in a small village outside Saffron Walden.   Finally being allowed to fully decorate an entire home has been so exciting and whilst sourcing various items for the cottage, I found all these amazing makers and designers in the UK creating the most beautiful and high quality items that are utterly gorgeous and just too good not to share.  The idea of Rhubarb & Hare was born.  It's since taken some time to plan and get it all ready but I am so excited it is finally here and I can share it all with you.

I am constantly adding new makers and products to the website so I do hope you keep coming back to have a browse, or sign up to our newsletter to get all that information first!
