I stumbled across Atlantic Blankets via my usual Instagram rabbit hole on a cold and rainy day earlier this year and I was immediately transported to a beautiful dune beach in Cornwall with the promise of the perfect picnic blanket.
As with all the makers I choose to work with at Rhubarb & Hare, I love Corina’s ethos. Her mission is simple: to create candles with captivating scents, beautiful eco friendly minimalist apothecary packaging, and to use the finest ingredients available.
It’s been really important to me whilst setting up the store that all our packaging elements are recyclable, where possible, and inflict none or very little impact on the environment. I know that this is something that I am increasingly looking for when I’m buying something from a retailer and wanted to ensure I provide the same.
I’m not very good at turning the spotlight on myself – I’d rather talk about the wonderful and talented makers I have found to sell on this site, but I do know from when I am following people and stores, I always like to know a little more about them.
I thought it might be nice to give you a bit more detail about where the idea of Rhubarb & Hare all began. It’s been so many years in the dreaming and months in the planning, but like most ideas, it started with a seed . . . .
As instructed I left my bucket of water on my doorstep Friday morning which Cissy then filled with the most glorious array of flowers and foliage including some amazing ranunculus.
Surrounded by the most delicate country flowers my press is stuffed to the brim with cow parsley, apple blossom, red valerian and anything beautiful which has caught my eye and I have basically foraged on our daily country walks.
But recently I have started to notice a bold new colour appearing in various places that I just find so beautiful. I love it and wish there was somewhere in my cottage where it would work.
